Edon FFA Members Excel At State

Members Place 2nd In Grain Merchandising Contest
The Edon FFA Chapter has continued its tradition of outstanding performance in the Grain Merchandising CDE, which tests member’s knowledge in the area of grain merchandising and to make students aware of the complex decision making process associated with merchandising agricultural products. After winning a state title in 2015, this year’s team repeated great success by placing 2nd in the state. The team was coached by Joe Radabaugh and supported by the Edon Farmers Cooperative. Team members were Jordan Winebernner, Eliza Zulch, Paige Schaffter, Samantha Trausch, Colten Lyman, Preston Klingler, Levi Brandt and Graeden Rupp. Individually, Jordan placed 1st in the state of Ohio, Paige placed 7th and Eliza placed 10th. Congratulations to this team and their coach!

Cooperative Education CDE
The Cooperative Education CDE is designed to learn ways of doing business in America with emphasis on agricultural cooperatives. This year the Edon FFA placed 6th in the state contest. The top four individual scores for the team were Evan Fisk 18th, Eliza Zulch 36th, Paige Schaffter 37th and Colten Lyman 52nd.

Greenhand Quiz CDE
First-year members of the FFA are allowed to participate in the Greenhand Quiz CDE, which is designed to increase the basic knowledge of students about the FFA and its operations. This year the team placed 27th out of 113 teams in the state. Individuals making up the team score were Aidan Muehlfeld, Nick Wiedmer, Hannah Ater and Taylor Trausch.

Farm Business Management CDE
The Farm Business Management CDE provides students with the opportunity to solve typical farm management problems. The Edon FFA placed 15th in the state this year. Members of the team were Preston Thiel, Jordan Winebernner, Evan Fisk and Preston Klingler.
