Edon Elem AR Award May2016 - LHF(2) WEBAllison Kaylor was recently recognized with having the most accumulated points for the Accelerated Reader (AR) program at Edon Northwest Elementary School. Reading well over one hundred books over the past nine months, the sixth-grader achieved Top AR Reader honors for 2015-2016 by earning 1,953 points (with a 97 percent test average at level 12!). The AR program at Edon Elementary offers teachers a fun way to promote reading both at home and in the classroom. Throughout the school year, students read books and then take computerized quizzes to earn points. Upon reaching their goals, each boy and girl is rewarded by having his or her name posted on the District website and read during morning announcements along with receiving incentive prizes funded or donated by local organizations and businesses including Edon Athletic Boosters, Edon Northwest Parents Club, Academic Booster Club, Theta Kappa Sorority, Edon Dairy Treat and Mid-Toll Subway. Proudly presenting Allison with her 2016-2017 Student Sports Pass, awarded for attaining the highest level set for her grade, is Sharla Kirkingburg, AR Coordinator.
