Spangler Candy Company Announces Leadership Changes

Spangler Candy Company today announced the reorganization of some of its leadership to meet the demands of continuing company growth and government food safety regulations.

Niki MosierNiki Mosier, Vice President – Human Capital
Niki Mosier has been appointed Vice President- Human Capital and becomes the first female officer in Spangler Candy Company history. Mosier joined Spangler Candy Company in 2003 as Safety/Training Coordinator. She has been Director of Human Capital since 2010, and was appointed to the company’s Management Committee in 2012.

She has led the company’s HR Department through continued growth to what is now the highest employment level in the company’s history, with more than 460 employees in the Bryan plant. In June, Spangler Candy earned the 2016 Outstanding Member Award from the Employers Association, given to a company providing an excellent work environment, support and service of the local community.

Mosier received a bachelor’s degree from The Defiance College, majoring in Human Resources with a minor in Economics. She received a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Defiance College in 2004, and attained her Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification. She and her husband, Griff, live in Bryan with their two sons, Andy and Logan.

Steve KerrSteve Kerr, Vice President – Food Safety Compliance and Contract Manufacturing
Steve Kerr has been appointed Vice President-Food Safety Compliance and Contract Manufacturing. Kerr joined Spangler in 1986 as a Product Line Supervisor. During his 30 years at Spangler, he moved up through the ranks to Production Superintendent, then Manufacturing Superintendent. Kerr was appointed Vice President-Manufacturing at Spangler in 2006, and joined the Spangler Management Committee at that time.

Kerr successfully led the company through continually more complex food safety audits and third party inspections by contract manufacturing customers and government regulatory agencies. Most recently under Kerr’s leadership, Spangler Candy was awarded a top level “AA” rating following a May audit by the British Retail Consortium (BRC), which measures standards for food safety, quality management, factory environment, processes and personnel for industries worldwide.

Kerr received his degree in Economics and Psychology from Denison University. He and his wife, Susan, live in Bryan. They have two daughters, Annie (and husband Derek) Knisely, and Julia Kerr.

Lynn WielandLynn Wieland, Vice President – Operations
Lynn Wieland has been appointed Vice President – Operations. Wieland first joined Spangler in 1985 in the production department, and was named 2nd shift production supervisor in 1988. He worked for 15 years, and following a three-year departure, returned in 2006 as Director of Bryan Manufacturing.

In 2011, he was appointed Director of Contract Manufacturing, and was named Director-Contract Relationships and Product Compliance in 2013. That same year, he was appointed to the Spangler Management Committee.

Wieland attended Ohio State University as a Business major. He and his wife, Theresa, live in Bryan. They have two sons, Andrew (and wife Laura), and Austin (and wife Meaghan), and one-year-old granddaughter, Ryann.
