ARCHBOLD – An unseasonably warm and sunny evening provided a perfect setting for the Archbold High School Homecoming Ceremony that was held at Archbold on Friday, October 7.
The evening’s festivities began at 6:30 pm as freshman escort Chase Kohler, along with his parents, made their way across the field to the large crowd assembled at the stadium. Freshman attendant Sophie Hubby, as well as her parents, entered next. This pattern continued by class, culminating with the arrival of King Jack Fisher, and finally Queen Malinda Lugbill. After the crowning ceremony and photo session concluded, the court took their place for the night on bleachers on the home team’s sideline.
Besides Queen Malinda and King Jack, the Homecoming Court was comprised of: Senior attendant and escort Lexa Richardson and Logan Garrow, Junior attendant and escort Macey Rupp and Trevor Rupp, Sophomore attendant and escort, Andi Peterson and Andrew Hogrefe, and the aforementioned Freshman attendant and escort, Sophie Hubby and Chase Kohler. Also participating in the event were Princess Emma Meyer and Prince Wyatt Gericke.
The Homecoming Ceremony wasn’t the only special event. Prior to the kickoff, 70 alumni joined the Archbold HS Band. The range of past graduates who participated with the band spanned seven decades. One hundred forty one members in all preformed before the game, including a resounding rendition of the National Anthem.
The outcome of the game coincided with the perfect fall weather and Homecoming Ceremony. The Bluestreaks defense held the Bryan offense in check most of the night allowing just 2 first downs and 35 total yards to the Golden Bears en route to a 13-7 victory.
