Williams County Board Awards Pioneer Job To Michigan Company

The Williams County Commissioners conducted the following business Jan. 12.

The board approved the appointment of Commissioner Lewis Hilkert and Engineering Technician Dan Clum to the Williams County Economic Development Corporation. The request for two members came from WEDCO Executive Director Matt Davis.

It is important to the organization that the appointed members stay current by attending the monthly board meetings, Davis said.

The Board authorized it will receive sealed bids at One Courthouse Square, 4th Floor, Bryan, Ohio until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 for asphalt emulsion products for use by the county’s Highway Department.


Complete sets of bidding documents will be available for examination from 8:30 a. m. to 4:30 p. m., Monday through Friday at the office.

Copies may be obtained by request from the Williams County Engineer, 12953 County Road G, Bryan, Ohio 43506, 419-636-2454 or on the engineer’s web http://www.wmscoengineer.com/bidprojects.asp at no charge.

The bid notice may be viewed on the Williams County Web Site at www.co.williams.oh.us under the heading COMMISSIONERS, LEGAL NOTICES.


The board approved the hiring of an attorney to represent its Job and Family Services department in an administrative appeal before the State Personnel Board of Review.

The board retained Eugene P. Nevada, Esq., because of his highly-specialized knowledge of civil service. He will be paid at a rate of $175 per hour, plus ordinary expenses.

The board approved a change order for the EMS Building Renovation re-bid project.

The changes include the following additions
1. Plumbing – $12,346.00;
2. Electrical – $8,228.00;
3. General – $3,358.00;


And a deduction: Cost for replacing existing door 118 that was to be relocated, with a new passage door to the East – $1,500.00.

The total change was $22,492.

The original contract was $389,720; the new total will be: $425,252.

The board approved Salenbein Trucking & Excavating, Inc., of Dundee, Mich., with the bid for the Clark Avenue Extension – Industrial Connector Project in Pioneer.

The winning bid was $1,916,600.67. It beat out nine other bids.

CDBG funds in the amount of $500,000 have been allocated to the project. Additionally, a 629 Roadway Grant in the amount of $500,000and an EDA Public Works Grant in the amount of $1,002,128 have been awarded. Any additional funds, including any changes orders that may occur, above the CDBG, 629 Roadway and EDA Public Works will be the financial responsibility of Pioneer.
