“Hosta” for the win… “alamo” for the confirm. Molly Hennessey was the last bee standing at the Williams County Spelling Bee that was held at the Montpelier auditeria on Monday evening. Nine area schools, with two participants per school, competed in the bee that left Nicholas Roth, a 7th grader from Edgerton and Molly, a 6th grader from St. Mary’s Catholic School the last two standing. Nicholas won the runner-up title with the misspelling of “crochet”. Participants of the spelling bee were Austin Tomaszewski and Maris Gendron, Bryan; Nicholas Roth and Lola Giesige of Edgerton; Victoria Green and Ivy Lash, Edon; Jamie Chester and Vivien Ewing of Millcreek/West Unity; Lyndsi Engels and Annaliese Cummins of Montpelier; Martha Marmolejo and Mario Marmolejo of North Central; Molly Hennessey and Brianna Wickerham of St. Mary’s; Ryan Knight and Reese Grothaus of St. Patrick Catholic School; and Abigail Meyer and Emmalee Fulk of Stryker. Hennessey will compete in the regional bee that will be held in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on March 11.
