Evergreen School Board Approves Five Year Superintendent Contract

The Evergreen Local Board of Education approved a five-year contract for its superintendent.

Jim Wyse’s new term runs from Aug. 1 through July, 31, 2022. He was hired in 2009 after being an elementary school principal in the Defiance system.

The board made its decision at its regular session Feb. 14. There were 18 visitors and guests present.

Karen Pennington presented high school student Caleb Bagi a $500 scholarship for creating a “No Texting and Driving” design that has been chosen as the winner and used for billboards throughout Fulton County.


Judy Jackson May presented Julie Carter and Gary Pennington with 15-year service awards.

The Board conducted the following business:
•Accepted the retirement resignation of Laura Winkler after 18 years at Evergreen. Her resignation becomes effective May 31. Her service in the high school cafeteria will be missed, Superintendent Jim Wyse said.

•Approved the following supplemental contracts and volunteer positions, pending completion of all pupil certification/license requirements:


Brandon Peluso – JH Track Coach (3/4 supplemental contract)
Andrea Hesson – JH Track Coach (1/4 supplemental contract)
Jeffrey Pawlaczyk – HS Track Assistant (1/2 supplemental contract)
Peyton Pawlaczyk – Volunteer HS Track
Meghan Harris – Volunteer HS Track
Holly Sintobin – Volunteer HS Softball
Lisa Smithmyer – Volunteer HS Softball

The board discussed the following topics:
Wednesday Evening and Sunday policies and guidelines; high school bleacher repairs and middle school bleacher upgrades; the soccer field and athletic training.

The Next Regular Board Meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 13 in the Loren Pennington Learning Center.
