The Village of Edgerton is considering joining the Ohio Checkbook and officials will be talking with their counterparts about how it’s working out.
The village council had a presentation from Ohio Checkbook, and Council has asked Fiscal Officer Denise and Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles to make a connection with other local communities who use this service and report back the results. It is anticipated council will make a decision in regards to participation within the next two council meetings, Fitzcharles said.
The web page shows the annual and current spending of the state since 2008. The state spent more than $67 billion last year and has already spent $40 billion this year through March 23.
Council approved advertising for the position of police chief and a lineworker. Ads may be found on The Village Reporter’s facebook page.
Council also approved legislation opposed to the governor’s proposal to centralize collection of net profit tax returns related to municipal income tax. The resolution states such an action will cause a substantial loss of revenue needed to support the health, safety, welfare and economic development of the community.
