GUEST SPEAKER … Joan Horne, Site Manager for the Stryker Senior Center, spoke to the Stryker Rotary at their regular meeting on March 28th. Joan has been the site manager at Stryker for almost one and one-half years and has worked for the Department of Ageing for eleven years. Her goal is to operate the center in a way that works well for the people who visit, and plans activities that they enjoy. The Stryker Senior Center is open four days each week, Monday thru Thursday, from 8AM till 4PM. They serve a lunch each of those days with the meal planned for 11:30AM. Stryker averages eleven people in attendance. Some come just for the meal and others enjoy the activities both before and after the meal. For those who need a ride transportation is available upon request. Trips are also planned for the group to places like the Mud Hens stadium or Lake Erie. Williams County has seven locations for senior centers and Stryker seniors are welcome in other centers on Fridays when the Stryker site is closed. The Department of Ageing also provides meals five days each week to residents who are unable to travel to the centers. Every other month a newsletter is published showing the activities and meals for each day. Joan also said volunteers are needed to help.
