May 2017 Adult Programming At Swanton Public Library Announced

Yoga Classes
Instructor Aimee Strohbeck’s yoga classes will return to their regular times in May. Beginning Yoga will be held on Mondays from 10:15 am – 11:45 am. Class fee is $10 per session. There will be no class on Monday, May 29. The library will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. Intro to Yoga will be offered on Thursdays from 10:15 am to 11:45 am. Class fee is by donation, proceeds benefit the library. Chair Yoga will be held on Thursdays from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm; this class involves poses modified to be gentler while sitting or standing holding a chair. Class fee is $5.

Writers’ Group
Do you want to write but are not sure how to get started? Are you a writer who is interested in input on your work? If this sounds right up your alley, local freelance author Nathan Jacobs will lead a writers’ group, which will meet from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 4. Attendees should bring works in progress or finished stories to share, and be prepared to participate in discussions about tools to help improve writing skills. Essential Oils Programs
Monday, May 8, Carla from Young Living Essential Oils will be giving a brief introduction to essential oils. Carla will also be presenting a program dealing with essential oils and their use with children on Monday, May 22. On May 18, Amber from doTERRA will be here to expand on her natural healing program, including Reiki and AromaTouch techniques. All programs will be from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Medicare and Health Care
Assistance for Seniors
If you need help or have questions about Medicare, insurance, bill paying, or assistance programs, Val Edwards from the Fulton County Senior Center will be at the library on Thursday, May 11 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Call 419-337-9299 to schedule an appointment.

Cardmaking Class:
Cards for Him
On Thursday, May 11 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, our ongoing series of cardmaking classes with instructor Anna Geis continues with some wonderful Father’s Day and other masculine-themed cards. A $5.00 supply fee covers three cards. Children 8 years and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Registration is required; please call us at 419-826-2760, come in, or visit our website.


Adult Book Club
Our next book club meeting takes place on Thursday, May 11 at 7:00 pm. This month is an open discussion. Come in and feel free to discuss any new books that have caught your interest. Also, pick up a copy of next month’s book The Things We Keep by Sally Hepworth. New members are always welcome.

Guitar Classes
Guitar classes will meet this month on Thursday, May 25 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Beginner classes will be at 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm, while intermediate class is at 7:30 pm. This free program welcomes newcomers, but registration is required. Please bring a guitar if you have one.

Chess
Come join the chess group on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm or Saturday afternoons at 1:00 pm. Players of all skill levels are welcomed.


Knitting/Crocheting
This group, led by Kathy Queen, invites knitters and crocheters of all skill levels to enjoy time with other fiber artists. In May, the group will meet on Mondays, May 1 and May 15, at 1:30 pm and Wednesdays, May 3, 7, and 31, at 6:30 pm. All skill levels including beginners are welcome.
