Archbold Claims Girls Sectional Wrestling Title

DEFIANCE (February 27, 2026) – It was an impressive night for the Archbold Lady Streaks wrestling team as they claimed the girls sectional title at Defiance High School.

The Streaks tallied 177 points to capture the crown, qualifying nine wrestlers, including three sectional champions, for district competition at Findlay High School on Sunday, March 8.

Capturing individual titles for the Streaks were Carys Jacobs (100), Vivi Legato (155) and Gabby Oregon (235).

Jacobs dominated Taylor Malan of Whitmer with a 17-2 technical fall victory. Legato won via medical forfeit over Saton Alter of Woodmore. Oregon pinned Dylan Ankney of Fairview in 3:56 for her title.

Wauseon’s Kaelynn Hartsock (115) and Amya Hallett (145) each claimed a sectional title. Hartsock pinned Vida Guillen of Woodmore in 2:45. Hallett recorded a fall over Kate Brenneman of Archbold in 3:11.

Also qualifying for districts for Archbold were Meg Ames (170) and Elizabeth Draggoo (190) placing third. Jasanna Gonzales (115), Lila Nichols (130) and Taeya Moyer (140) finished fourth.

Delta who placed fourth in the team standings with 106 ½ points was led by Ryllie Taylor who finished runner-up to Abbie Meyer of St. Marys Memorial in the 135-pound final.

Also advancing to districts for the Panthers were Faith Younke (100) and Jayde Westmeyer (130) who placed third. Lauren Lopez (110) and Karalynn Longnecker (155) earned fourth place finishes.

Montpelier’s Harlee Salazar and Madyson Smith both finished runner-up in their respective weight classes.

Salazar was pinned by Eliana Rush of Eastwood in 5:35 in the 170-pound final. Smith dropped a 14-5 major decision to Maddilan Doster of Antwerp at 190 pounds.

Other area wrestlers who will move on to districts were Julianne Curtis of Evergreen who placed third at 105 pounds, Alexa Solis of Wauseon was third at 110 pounds, Payton Geiner of Bryan was third and Kyli Hazelton of Edgerton was fourth at 125 pounds.
