Following a review of the treasurer applications and subsequent interviews of 4 certified candidates, the board has unanimously approved a contract for Mr. Fleming through July 2019. Mr. Fleming joins the administrative team and plans to share his Chief Financial Officer experiences at several supply, manufacturing and service organizations. North Central Elementary School welcomed Jim Basketball Jones for an energized and inspirational assembly. Basketball Jones shared the importance of lifting others up and practicing the skill of kindness. His message encouraged students and staff alike, emphasizing that we should be patient listeners, should spread kindness whenever we can, and should put forth the effort and do what it takes to always be our best. Ramona A. “Monie” Shaffer, 80 years, of Sherwood, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Genesis Healthcare – Bryan Center, Bryan, Ohio. Monie was born December 29, 1935 in Paulding, Ohio, the daughter of the late Henry and Marjorie(Johnson) Grimes. After the death of her father, Monie was raised at the Marsh Foundation Children’s Home in Van Wert, where she graduated from High School. The village of Metamora will look at ways to make it easier for pedestrians to access the paved road at the park. Resident Donna Tills questioned the locking of the park gate behind the north ball field bleachers. With the gate opened, it provides safe passage for her and others to walk through the park, because it is paved and much safer than walking through the stoned parking lot. Edna J. Thompson, 93, of Montpelier, passed away on October 10, 2016 at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. She was born on April 25, 1923 in Henry County, Ohio to Alvin Z. and Ethel E. (Weirich) Mohler. She graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1941 and graduated from Lima School of Practical Nursing in 1959. On Tuesday, October 11th at 8 p.m. deputies in the Holiday City area (south of Pioneer) were on patrol looking for a stolen 2000 Black Ford Focus from the village of Montpelier. Deputies located the vehicle on County Road 15 at County Road N.30 and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver stopped the vehicle on County Road 15 just south of the intersection and fled on foot into a corn field. Deputies on scene began to set up a perimeter and contacted Sheriff Steve Towns. The boys in the Wauseon Youth Football League will be paying tribute to local veterans in a special night at Harmon Field. The league will play two games beginning at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15 and as part of the tribute will be wearing special U.S. flag emblems on their helmets and jerseys. Admission is free. The Fulton County Ohio Kennel Club (FCOKC) held their 22nd All-Breed Dog Show this past weekend at the Fulton County Fair Grounds and welcomed 735 dogs representing 138 breeds or varieties from all around the United States and Canada. The show, according to FCOKC President Bill Sahloff of Swanton, is a step down from the Westminster Dog Show, the oldest dog show in the country, having been held every year since 1877. Dan Goehler celebrated his retirement from Chase Brass and Copper after 36 years of dedicated service. Dan began his career at Chase in production. He then was promoted to management and accepted ever increasing levels of responsibility, serving as a Supervisor, then Plant Manager, and retiring as Vice President of Manufacturing. With his personal commitment to every venture, Dan will be remembered fondly as a driving force in the success of Chase Brass.
