Williams County Auditor, Deb Nester, has announced that Williams County’s sales tax revenue through the third quarter of 2012 totaled $3,842,641 compared to $3,559,345 in 2011, an increase of $283,296 or 8.0%. GUEST SPEAKER … Sandy Barber, five-time Delegate to the Republican National Convention, spoke to the Stryker Rotary Club at their Tuesday evening meeting. She became a delegate by becoming active with a campaign run for a congressional district. She served as delegate in Dallas in 1984, New Orleans in 1988, Houston in 1992, New York in 2004, and Tampa this year. The September meeting of the Northwest Ohio Rug Hookrafters Guild was held at the Stryker library.   There were 13 members present and 2 guests; Cheryl McCoy (Defiance) and Nanette Buehrer (Archbold). An emotional Mark Elliott thanked Hilltop’s Board of Education for approving FMLA leave for him at their Monday, September 17, 2012 monthly meeting. Elliott’s leave was effective September 17 and is open-ended, allowing Elliott to spend time with his wife who is gravely ill. Kevin Bockrath was approved to serve as interim high school principal at a rate of $250 per day on an as needed basis. Stryker Branch Library will be offering a Fall Craft Night hosted by Shirley Zwyer on Tuesday, October 2, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  She will teach the class members how to make scarecrows from dish towels or tea towels.  Sign up is required, and the class will be limited to 12 participants.  Funding for this craft program was provided by the 21st Century Grant. PETTISVILLE – The Wauseon Indians brought their war party to Blackbird Country to take on Pettisville on the evening of September 6. When the dust had settled, both squads came away with a 2-2 draw. STRYKER – The North Central Varsity Golf Team had their highest finish ever at the Stryker Invitational on September 8th when they captured second place.  The Eagles score of 316 for the 18-hole contest was not enough to overcome the Wauseon Indians who won the title with a score of 308 in the 16 team event. As members of the Toledo Area Athletic Conference, the Bombers and the Rangers collide every year, and the results have seldom been good for the Bombers…justifiably so. Tommy Lee Brown, Sr., 59, of Montpelier died Wednesday evening at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio.  He was born September 24, 1952 in Adrian, Michigan to Edward A. and Doris (Wheat) Brown, Jr.  Tom graduated from Anthony Wayne High School and the Penta County Vocational High School in 1972. After school Tom went to serve his country in the U.S. Navy as a Bosonsmate. Tom married Denise L. Walker on May 3, 2002 in Bryan, Ohio and she survives. Arnold “Max” Musser, Jr., age 59, of rural Edgerton, Ohio, died at 3:31 P.M. on Monday, September 3, 2012, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after an illness of several months. During Monday, September 10 meeting, Montpelier resident, Angel Fritsch asked council to consider moving Trick or Treat to Saturday, October 27.  She presented a letter with signatures from numerous members of the community stating reasons for moving Trick or Treat to a Saturday.
