On May 7, 2025, the Blakeslee Village Council met for its regular meeting at 6:00 p.m. In attendance were Mayor Eric Jenkins, Fiscal Officer Courtny Osborn, and council members Robert Mohre, Linda Muehlfeld, Rosemary Alexander, Shelly Cox, and Nick Reed. Council member Virgil Green was absent.

Mayor Jenkins opened the meeting, and Fiscal Officer Osborn presented the April minutes, which were unanimously approved. Osborn noted one outstanding garbage bill, which Mayor Jenkins has addressed by contacting the resident.

The council discussed spring preparations, including weed control. Mayor Jenkins confirmed that the county will spray the hills for weeds once warmer weather arrives, with Blakeslee added to the schedule.

Additionally, Jenkins plans to repair rust on the fire hall doors using a wire wheel and rust inhibitor. Mayor Jenkins also commented that Toledo Edison repaired a streetlight on the south end of town and checked other village streetlights to make sure they were working properly.

Looking ahead to the winter season, the council explored options for updated Christmas wreaths to enhance the village’s holiday decorations.

After discussion, they agreed to continue researching and put together a motion to purchase new LED bulbs and bows to upgrade the existing wreaths.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m. The next Blakeslee Village Council meeting is scheduled for June 11, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
