The Brady Township Trustees held their meeting on Monday, July 27, at the Brady Township Fire Department.
Jim Eisel, Willie Grime and Timothy Nofziger were present for the meeting as well as Fiscal Officer Chrystal Maneval. Road Supervisor Dustin Bailey was also in attendance.
Before any reports were brought forward, a motion was made by Eisel and seconded by Grime to approve bills to be paid as presented, and the reading of the minutes was approved.
Bailey brought the maintenance report to the trustees. The new storage building is almost complete with only the doors left to install to finish the project.
The material for a new salt storage building was delivered to the township site and is hoped to be built and in use within the next 2-3 weeks.
A new gas line was run on the property for use of a new tank. Nofziger brought up an issue on County Road 19 where the road was beginning to bunch up in the center of the road.
Bailey went out to check the issue and was given a recommendation on how to assess the problem. Instead of ripping up the road, a crew could dig up on each ditch side to see what is causing the problem.
If this does not give any answers as to why the road is bunching, then it will more than likely need to be ripped up and addressed more in depth.
It does appear that the road will have to be repaired at some point, and at that time the trustees will seek someone to evaluate the issue.
Chip and sealing of the roads are expected to be done by the middle to the end of August. Grime reported that a cleanup and some trimming of trees at Rings Cemetery was quoted at $750.
The work would include proper maintenance and some low hanging tree trimming.
Bailey indicated that they may be able to do the job themselves as long as the trimming does not include any tree trimming that runs up high so as to not have to bring out a bucket truck. The trustees will continue to discuss the plan of action.
A motion to approve the completion of the tarring of roads in the township was approved. The roughly 2.5 miles of tarring will cost the township $10,050.
Eisel brought to the trustees a need for tile repair on County Road 21. They are currently seeking quotes from a pair of excavating companies.
Lastly, a pair of bushes on Road 20.40 are sitting in the right of way of the road and will need to be removed.
The township will remove the bushes for the owners of the land, which will include fill dirt for the hole, or the occupants can do the work themselves and the township will bring in fill dirt.
With all business completed, the meeting was adjourned. The next township meeting is slated for August 10.
