The Bryan City Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, December 13th at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The board first moved to approve the minutes from the previous November meeting before moving to public participation.

Members of the public that were present were notified that participation rules have changed and were approved at the previous meeting. Participants will be given three minutes to speak and must have asked the treasurer no later than three hours before the meeting in order to be registered to speak.

With no public wishing to address the board, a communication report was heard. The report focused on students at Four County Career Center was given first. It was said that all students were working hard up until the holiday break and that some students participated in a food drive.

The board then moved on to the student spotlight. Cooper and McKenna Myers were recognized and gave a presentation on the students efforts this year for the Christmas for Kids project.
This year $7,600.48 was raised through drives at both the elementary and the MS/HS.

This was a new record for Bryan and brings the total raised in ten years to just under $60,000. Both schools used special dress days to help drive donations. The elementary school sets goals to meet.

Having met those goals, the students will enjoy a Christmas movie, silly stringing the principals, a mystery surprise, and see Mr. Rairigh kiss a pig.

The board then moved to approve the treasurers report which included the following recommendations. Amended permanent appropriations for Fiscal Year 2022. A Resolution accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission and authorizing necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor.

A FY22 NWOESC Sign Language interpreter services contract and a donation of 2,500 candy canes from the Spangler Candy Company.

Board members then discussed the upcoming annual organizational meeting that will be taking place on January 10th. The meeting will take place at the Bryan Elementary Commons at 7:00 p.m. with the regular board meeting following after.

With no old business to discuss, the board moved on to new business with the 2022 Four County Career Center representatives being discussed and tabled until the January 2022 meeting.

The Superintendent report was then approved including the 6th through 12th grade curriculum guide for the 2022-2023 school year and numerous personnel recommendations. Board members then moved to approve the second reading of a board policy regarding the time of release for religious instruction.

2021-2022 business advisory council meeting dates were then discussed with a meeting being set for Wednesday, February 16th at 7:15 a.m. and Wednesday, May 18th at 7:15 a.m. The board then moved to enter into executive session at 7:31 p.m.

Upon return from executive session at 7:42 p.m. the board moved to approve three safety and security recommendations. With no further discussion being needed, the board moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m.
