The Bryan Board of Education met on July 17, 2023 at 6 p.m. at the Elementary School Commons. Present were members Caleb Turnbull, Scott Benedict, Ben Camarillo, Deb Opdycke, and Dustin Schlatter. Also present were Kevin Schafer, Treasurer, and Mark Rairigh, Superintendent.
First approved were the minutes from the June 12, 2023 meeting, as well as the communications report.
This report included details of retirements and summer work reimbursements.
Next approved was the financial report, which included details of newly hired employees, an approval of the received milk bid, an NBEC technical services agreement, a St. Patrick’s Speech Pathology speech agreement. All of the recommendations made by the treasurer were then approved as presented at 6:11 p.m.
An update was then given on the new lights, turf, and scoreboard that will soon be installed at the football stadium throughout the next four weeks, with the inaugural game taking place on August 18 against Van Wert.
Dirt is being moved to Washington Street to level for playing field use. It will soon be seeded with grass, hopefully growing by October.
Those that usually park on Washington Street are being offered alternative lots to park in so that this process is not disturbed.
The Board will soon see a recommendation to accept donations for the football field project, with a sponsor display board underway.
There are two open positions within the district going forward, and all superintendent recommendations were then approved as presented at 6:34 p.m. before the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
The next Bryan City Board of Education meeting will be held on August 21, 2023, at 6 p.m.
