Bryan City Council met in a regular session on Monday, May 18 with council members Mary Leatherman, Stephen Alspaugh, John Betts, and Jim Kozumplik present with Richard Hupe being absent from the meeting.
Council approved a building permit for the Aldi Grocery Store located on 1126 South Main Street with Deerfield Construction Company, Inc of Loveland, Ohio, doing the renovation work on the former K-Mart store building.

Cost of the renovation is $1,863,053 for the 23,881-square-foot building which is expected to open sometime this summer.
Council member John Betts asked Zoning Administrator Andrew Waterston for details regarding local job creation. Waterston said he didn’t have that information yet.
Waterston also said that crews have been working inside the building for several months.
Clerk-Treasurer John Lehner requested council to approve several appropriations due to the fact the city had submitted insurance claims for seven city-owned vehicles damaged by the recent hailstorm a few weeks ago.
Total amount submitted for the seven vehicles, which included those from police, streets, electric, and water departments, was $49,400.
“This is the mechanism to appropriate insurance dollars we have received for those repairs,” said Lehner.
Council then approved the appropriations for vehicle repairs by a 4-0 vote.
Discussion on issues with concerns regarding juvenile complaints at Lincoln Park was brought up by Parks and Recreation Director Ben Dominique.
He said there have been at least three or four situations caught on camera that have gone to the Juvenile Prosecutor.
“If we catch them and identify them with the help of Police Chief Greg Ruskey and the police department, we are enforcing penalties along that line,” said Dominique.
In other business, council:

-Accepted a $13,700 donation from various sponsors to the Parks and Recreation Department for the Fountain City Amphitheater.
-Approved an agreement with Griffin Pavement Striping LLC of Fremont, Ohio for the annual pavement marking program. The estimated cost is $163,790, which is below the engineer’s estimated cost of $193,594.50.
-Agreed to update the city’s codified ordinances to reflect state law changes.
Council then adjourned the meeting at 6:02 p.m. Next council meeting will be on Monday, June 1 at 5:30 p.m.
