The Bryan High School Theatre program is working hard on the perfect play for this unprecedented and unpredictable year! The One Act: The Play that Goes Wrong, by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, & Henry Shields centers around a group of actors at a trade school who finally have enough people and money to put on a play.
They’ve chosen an Agatha Christie- like mystery: The Murder at Haversham Manor. Even before they can begin, what can go wrongdoes, proving Murphy’s Law and keeping the audience in stitches from start to finish. Eight students take the stage and many more talented technical crew members are in supporting positions behind the scenes.
Senior Jillian Drinnon plays the distressed director of this bumbling brood of characters. Another senior, Arianna Penny, plays the stage manager who reluctantly fills in for the lead (who passes out- twice! We won’t reveal how). Senior Parker Rosebrook plays a man who can’t seem to get his cues right- even though he’s the murder victim.
Rounding out the comically cursed cast are juniors Nolan Kuhn, playing the confident heartthrob; Ethan Psurny, a man with a secret; Morgan Koenig, the femme fatale; Katie Seaman, a maid who struggles with words; and finally, Kat Kellogg, a John Denver-loving techie.
The play lasts just under one hour and takes the stage for the first of 6 performances on Nov. 12 at 7 PM. The rest of the shows are Nov. 13 at 7 and 9 PM, Nov. 14 at 7 and 9 PM, and Nov. 15 at 2 PM. All performances take place at the Bryan Arts and Education auditorium, 120 S. Beech St. in Bryan.
Per Governor Dewine’s mandate, COVID protocol will include the following to keep us all safe:
● Cleaning and disinfecting the house seating and touch surfaces between shows.
● Masks must be worn by the audience.
● Seating will be every other row and groups will be asked to sit two seats apart.
● No tickets will be sold in the lobby; $5 general admission tickets will be sold at the high school during school hours until 3:30 PM on Nov. 13. Only 110 tickets can be sold for each performance.
● No mingling before or after the show. Doors will open 15 minutes before the start of each show. We all need a bit more laughter and entertainment in our lives as we bring 2020 to a close.
Directors Betsy Zuver and Heather Teegarden invite you to come to support the talented students and see if the show really does go on! #2020
