A fire reported at 315 North Lebanon Street, Bryan on Friday, April 27 claimed the life of one woman.

The 911 call received at 2:46 AM indicated that three people were still inside the structure. Upon arrival, local fire and police found that one was able to escape themselves. The fire department fought the blaze in order to extract the other two.

61 year old Debra Killian was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her husband, 69 year old James Killian Senior was flown via life flight from the Bryan Hospital to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Friday afternoon. The couple’s son, 35 year old James Killian Jr. was treated and released from the Bryan Hospital.

Multiple fire departments; including Bryan, Edgerton, Montpelier, Brady Township, and Alvordton, assisted at the scene for close to 5 hours. The Stryker Fire Department stood by at the Bryan Fire Station.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by state and local authorities.
