AWARD … Williams County Prosecuting Attorney Katherine J. Zartman presented Sergeant Jeremy Viers with the Williams County 2024 Top Cop Award.

The Williams County Top Cop Award was presented on Friday, October 18th. Many people gathered to honor and congratulate Sergeant Jeremy Viers of the Bryan Police Department.
Sergeant Viers grew up in Montpelier and graduated from Defiance College in 1998. He has been married to his wife for 28 years, and they have 4 children together, of whom he is very proud.
Jeremy has served with the Bryan Police Department for 25 years and was assigned to the multi-area narcotics task force for two terms, totaling six years.
In addition to this award, he received the Officer of the Year award from the Bryan Police Department in 2021, the Officer of the Year award from the Bryan VFW Post in 2021, and the Mr. Athlete award for the fastest Bryan officer in 2001.
Jeremy currently serves as a sergeant, supervising and mentoring road patrol officers. He is also the field training coordinator, firearms instructor for the Emergency Response Team, bicycle patrol instructor, and president of the Fraternal Order of Police, a position he has held for 15 years. He is also very active in his church and serves as part of the security there.
Sergeant Viers has been chosen for this award due to his hard work and outstanding performance on the job. He is dedicated to keeping the community safe and bringing offenders to justice.
Jeremy has done amazing work with the MAN Unit, taking down drug dealers and meth manufacturers, making his team one of the highest-producing teams in the state of Ohio.
He took life-saving action to save a citizen in 2018, solved a cold case murder from 2001, and took down an active shooter who was shooting at the Bryan Police Department with an AK47, protecting his fellow officers and the public in the process.
Viers’s most memorable work throughout his career has been undercover in drug crime operations.
Jeremy consistently produces high-quality work. His investigations are thorough, his paperwork is excellent and complete, and his testimony is very credible.
He has a kind, laid-back, cheerful attitude that makes him kind, caring, and reliable. Jeremy has never received a complaint from any defense attorney or defendant throughout his career, which is rare.
He always goes the extra mile and puts in work above and beyond what his duties require of him.
