Carol Radican (1940-2019)

February 20, 2019No Comments2 Mins Read

Carol M. Radican, 78 of Bryan, passed away Monday evening at her home.  She was born on July 23, 1940 in South Bend, Indiana to Dale and Pearl (Stark) Brewer.

Carol was a 1958 graduate of Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana. Her love and generosity and kindness will long be remembered by her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

Carol worked at H.D. Lee Corp., Bendix and Associates Investment before accepting a position with Bayer Corporation (formerly Miles) in Elkhart, Indiana. With Bayer she began as a Data Entry Clerk and later as a Secretary, retiring after 30 years in 1999. She was a member of the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church in Edwardsburg, Michigan where she served as an Elder, Deacon and was a member of the choir.

At the present she attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Montpelier. She enjoyed gardening or just digging around in the dirt, home decorating, dancing, traveling, lunching with her friends and spending time with her family, which included many family vacations.

Carol lived on Garver Lake for 25 years. There were wonderful memories of boating, fishing, swimming, hunting turtles and grandchildren placing frogs in her mailbox. It was a happy gathering place for picnics with the family. Her love and happy disposition touched the lives of those fortunate enough to call her family or friend. She was known for her never-ending smile when she spoke to you.

Carol played the accordion in her teen years and was always happy to play a few songs for anyone willing to listen. She loved to design interiors and especially enjoyed the mixture of traditional and “funky” style. Her highlight of the day was shopping and purchasing gifts for the family. She will be remembered for her kindness and generous nature.

Carol is survived by her son Kevin DeGraff of Edwardsburg, Michigan; daughter Mechelle (Ron Manes) Copas of Edwardsburg, Michigan; grandchildren Donald Copas, Matthew DeGraff, Michael (Julie) DeGraff, Brandon DeGraff, Adam Bauer, Amber (Kyle) Manes, Aaron Manes and Nicole (Peter) Dickey; great grandchildren Leighton DeGraff, AJ DeGraff, Allie Marie Bauer, Anthony Manes, Abigail Manes, Ryan Manes and Chase Manes; sisters Sharon Wasielewski of South Bend, Indiana and MaryBeth (Ralph) Kifowit of South Bend, Indiana; and longtime companion Charles Apt.
