Delta Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine took another step toward a new home after approval of a conditional use permit request by the Delta Board of Zoning Appeals on Thursday.
The property, located at 1130 E. Main Street behind the Subway restaurant, is zoned industrial. Architect Lance Wyse appeared on behalf of business owner Bill Anderson.
Wyse said the plan for the building includes revitalizing the existing building and adding on to the front to improve its aesthetics.
“This really will be a nice facility that he’ll be proud to have his clients come in,” Wyse said. According to paperwork filed in support of the request, improvements to the property will total $438,000.
Board member Pat Ogg asked about the possible impact of automotive fluids that may have leaked on and soaked into the concrete.
Wyse said his cursory look gave him no concerns. He confirmed the concrete will be sealed with either an epoxy flooring or an adhesive for another type of flooring to be installed on top. He said he was confident the final result would look good.
Board member Kevin McKillip asked if there were any concerns regarding noise from heavy industrial use next door.
Wyse said Anderson was aware of the noise but unconcerned about any effect it might have.
In addition to approving the permit, board members – including McKillip, who was attending his first meeting since joining the board – also nominated and approved member Allison Babcock as the board’s new chairperson.
