The Delta Village Council approved measures on a wide variety of business items during their May 18 meeting.
Council members approved on an emergency basis a resolution certifying to the Fulton County Auditor the total tax valuation of properties in the village.
Council members approved on an emergency basis an ordinance authorizing the annexation of a 17.56-acre vacant parcel on County Road H belonging to Leslie Haas as well as a resolution promising utility services and police protection for the same.

Council members approved on second reading a resolution authorizing the village administrator to provide written approval to the Fulton County Regional Planning Commission for land split requests.
Council members approved on first reading a pair of resolutions transferring the remaining balance of just over $160,000 out of the defunct swimming pool fund, with $80,314.25 going to the general fund and $80,314.25 going to the parks and recreation fund.
Under legislation council approved:
-On first reading the proposed tax budget for fiscal year 2027.
-Purchase by the water department of a used plotter to print and scan large blueprints.
-Moving forward on the purchase of a $2,904 permanent partition for village hall. approved the setting of a $50 fee for utility work in rights of way within the village.
-The continuation of the current inspection requirements for commercial buildings to be completed by Wood County personnel. New residential construction and renovations are required to follow the Ohio Revised Code, but no village inspections are required.
Police Chief Samuel Chappell reported a nonverbal autistic child recently went missing and was found after a short search in the neighborhood. As a result, the family requested a “Caution – Autistic Child in Area” sign, for which he said they are now getting prices.
Chappell reported the Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 27, starting at the Delta Park. He said they have raised $4,295 for the Special Olympics so far.
Chappell reported the police department is now one of 24 agencies accredited through the Ohio Collaborative Law Enforcement Accreditation Program under the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services.
According to its website, the program establishes best practices and provides resources and support to accredited agencies “in an effort to protect the public and law enforcement personnel, limit liability, and enhance levels of professional service delivery.”
Chappell reported North Star BlueScope Steel employees recently volunteered their time to place trash can posts in and help clean up the park. He said several more such events are planned.
A representative for the Delta Acres residential development project shared his hope that the council will approve a tax increment financing district covering the property once all relevant paperwork is complete.
The next regular meeting of the Delta Village Council will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 1 at 401 Main Street in Delta.
