The Edgerton Village Council met on November 1, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. Councilors Lance Bowsher, Pam Wampler, Leslie VanAusdale, Chuck Wallace, and Jason Gruver were present, as were Mayor Robert Day, Law Director Chris Walker, Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles, and Fiscal Officer Denise Knetch.

Mayor Day shared that the Trunk-or-Treat was successful, noting that although he expected the weather to impact attendance, they were running out of candy near 6 p.m.

Council then discussed whether it would be beneficial to make a mapped route for trick-or-treating, with maps being made available to residents-comparable to what the village does for their garage sales.

Mayor Day thanked the sponsors of the Picnic Pavilion Roofing Project, stating that it had been completed earlier that week.

Administrator Fitzcharles shared that the Edgerton Metals Project is having a schedule made, and the ODOT Pedestrian Improvement Paving Project is on pace.

December 6 will see a meeting with the Williams County Humane Society to address the stray cat problem currently faced by the village.

Fiscal Officer Denise Knetch shared that October is balanced and closed out, with the village fiscally operating in the month of November as of 4 p.m. that afternoon, and budget work is in process. The bills were approved as presented before council moved on to legislation.

The 2024 holiday pay schedule was approved via motion, as was a contract between the Village of Edgerton and Environmental Design Group for design and consulting services.

A motion was then made approving a contract for electrical services by participating in the AMP Circuit Rider Program for 2024.

Ordinance No. 1127 was given its second reading, and two MOUs with ODOT were given their annual approval for snow and ice control.

Councilor Wallace shared that leaf pickup has been great so far this season, and Councilor Bowsher wanted to remind everyone to “get out there and vote,” as there are a lot of things that affect everyone locally on the ballot. It was also advised that residents can utilize early voting.

Councilor VanAusdale shared that the January 6 Edgerton basketball game is looking fun, with Administrator Fitzcharles sharing what still needs to be done.

Councilor Jason Gruver then made a motion to enter into executive session at 5:55 p.m., with council set to meet next on November 15, 2023 at 5:30 p.m.
