As part of an ongoing program to promote Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity, this OHSAA award, named after the two-time Heisman Trophy winner, recognizes students who have been outstanding in their efforts to promote sportsmanship in their school and community.

Ohio High School Athletic Association Courageous Student Award
This award, established by OHSAA, recognizes a very special student who has been involved in, or supportive of, the interscholastic athletic program and deserves recognition for courage. Guidelines for selection include: a student who currently has, or has overcome, a serious illness, injury or disability; has overcome adversity in a positive way; has gone far beyond normal in assisting a fellow student, family member or friend; other extraordinary situations where tremendous courage against overwhelming odds has been displayed.
