(May 4th, 2015) – PIONEER: Despite being the road team, Edon had little trouble taking on North Central on Monday, May 4. Taking command of the contest early, the Lady Bombers never allowed the Eagles to get things going.

Edon defeated North Central 6-1.

From the start, the Bombers were in control, as they scored the first 2 runs of the game in the top of the opening inning. With no response from North Central, Edon struck again in the fourth, racking up 3 more runs. North Central finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth, putting up a run. Yet the visiting girls countered with another run of their own in the top of the sixth. Defense ruled the seventh inning, allowing Edon to maintain their 5 run advantage through the contest’s conclusion.

Lady Bomber senior Kaitlin Chrisman was lethal with her bat, going 2 for 4 on the evening. She hit for a single and a double, driving in 2 RBIs. Classmate Nicole Newell also went 2 for 4 from the plate, bringing home an RBI. She had a single and a double as well.

A double by North Central’s Cady VanDeVoorde was responsible for an RBI. Sabrina Pickford, Mikayla Hayes, Rachel Oxender, and Allyson Hutchison all hit for a single on the Lady Eagle’s behalf.

Chrisman also played a vital role for Edon on the mound, pitching for all seven inning in the win. Giving up just 1 earned run off of 5 hits, she struck out 10 batters while walking none.

Senior Reese Cogswell started the game from the mound for North Central, pitching for six innings. In that span, she allowed 4 earned runs from 7 hits, striking out 4 and walking 1 more. Hayes came in to finish out the seventh inning.
