Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State are fast-paced, hands-on experiences in the operation of mock government at the state, county and city level.  The main objective of each statewide program is to train young men and women in the duties, rights and privileges of citizenship while also providing an opportunity for them to participate actively in a democratic form of government.  Attendees also gain a greater understanding of American traditions while developing pride in our country’s citizens.

Sponsored nationwide by the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, Boys and Girls State programs are held on college campuses in forty-nine states, excluding Hawaii. Buckeye Boys State, founded in 1936, is the largest Boys State program in the country with an annual attendance of nearly 1200 young men.  Entering its 68th year, Buckeye Girls State has grown to over 1000 delegates making it now one of the largest Girls State programs in the nation as well.
