The Evergreen Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, August 21st. The meeting began at 6:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and approval of the minutes from the previous meeting held on July 17th.
Evergreen FFA Officers Andrew Bettinger and Carson Wyse then addressed the board before approval was given for the July 2023 financial reports.
Discussions then followed before board members moved to approve the following items. An anonymous donation to the Student Assistant Fund in the amount of $100.00 and a Bruce and Janice Wetzel donation to the EMS football program.
Permanent appropriations for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 2024. Stipends for various staff members to use for training, an unpaid leave of absence extension for Mrs. Kim Reckner, the adding of Christina Knestrick to the approved district substitute list pending the completion of any/all licensure requirements, and the resignation of Terrie Ferguson from the position of bus driver and cook.
Authorization was then given to the superintendent to enter into an agreement with accredited colleges and universities with Educational Preparation Programs for the purpose of allowing the placement of Education Preparation Students in our district schools for the 2023-2024 school year.
Next, approval was given for the Evergreen Board of Education to support the educational option program administered by the Wood County Education Service Center for the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center, the Juvenile Residential Center of Northwest Ohio, and the Wood County Alternative School, as well as the following additional items.
Nora Kiefer will serve as the Evergreen Local Board of Education delegate and Jason Miller as alternate to the OSBA Annual Meeting at the OSBA Capital Conference on November 14th.
Lastly, personnel items were approved along with an overnight trip for new Evergreen FFA students to attend the FFA Greenhand Camp in Carrollton, Ohio. There they will learn about FFA opportunities and engage with other members from across the state.
