ALVORDTON – Dorothy M. Kuney, age 87 of Alvordton, passed away early Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Hillside Country Living in Bryan.
She was born in New London, Ohio on May 1, 1936, the daughter of the late Richard and Lillie (Anderson) Fitch.
Dorothy’s family moved to Delta, Ohio, where she graduated from Delta High School in 1954. She then married Delbert E. Kuney on January 8, 1955, and he preceded her in death in July of 2008.
Dorothy was a member of Alvordton United Brethren Church, teaching Sunday School for many years.
She worked at AA Poultry Farm, Fayette Tubular, and the Carbon Factory; however for many years, she worked as a Postmaster Relief at Alvordton Post Office, retiring after 16 years. Her main love in life was spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving Dorothy are her son, Del (Amy) Kuney; and grandchildren, Nash and Shelby Kuney; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dana Goddard; brothers, Charles, Jim, Richard, Ray and Dan Fitch; and sister, Thelma Phillips.
Visitation for Dorothy will be held at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Fayette on Monday, August 28, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Dan VanArsdalen, officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery north of Alvordton.
