Fayette Council Agrees To The Purchase Of Equipment For The Water Department

Members of the Fayette Village Council convened for a brief regular meeting on the evening of January 27.

Council unanimously agreed to purchase an E. H. Wachs mobile water utility service system at a cost of $84,660.

Purchased along with the hot water kit and the trash pump, this multifunction unit incorporates, amongst other things, a valve exerciser, vacuum, and a 3,000 PSI pressure washer. The purchase was made through the Sourcewell federal pricing program.

“I watched it work,” said Mayor David Borer, “…and it’s pretty awesome. Somebody had a riser for a service valve, and they just took the high-pressure water wand and the suction, cleaned out around it, straightened it up and put their back in.”

“There was no digging. It should save a lot of time; it can clean catch basins.” “It will also hydro excavate,” said Village Administrator Genna Biddix. “It’ll do a lot of things.”

Council agreed to the payment of bills totaling $91,112.94, and heard the first reading of Ordinance 2021-02, establishing permanent appropriations for 2021.

In other actions, Council moved to adjust the Christmas holiday schedule in the village. With December 24 falling on a Friday and December 25 on Saturday this year, Council moved to designate December 23 as a holiday.

Prior to adjournment, Council retired into executive session to discuss the purchase of property.

No actions were taken upon returning to open session, but there is a likelihood of the subject arising again at the upcoming meeting on February 10.
