A former associate pastor of Shiloh Christian Union Church in Swancreek Township, Gerald B. Searle, age 51, of Liberty Center, has been charged by the US Department of Justice with receiving child pornography.

The case against Searle was filed on January 5 and alleges that, between May 24, 2013 and April 1, 2015, Searle received multiple images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Authorities seized a computer tablet and an external hard drive from Searle’s home on April 20, 2015.

Along with serving the church, Searle had also been on the list of substitute bus drivers for Liberty Center School District last year. However, he had not driven for the district since April of last year and did not submit for a bus driver’s position this year.

Searle will be arraigned in the US District Court in Toledo on January 21 at 10:00 AM.
