Anybody who is surprised that Hilltop’s Hannah Bleikamp has been named BBC Softball player of the year, please raise your hand. Uh huh. That’s what I thought…nobody.
The Lady Cadet senior and Sienna Heights prospect spent the year tearing the cover off the ball, leading the Ladies in Red to the 2014 BBC Championship. What Miguel Cabrera is to the Detroit Tigers, Hannah was to the Lady Cadets. She was the last person an opposing pitcher wanted to see stepping into the batter’s box with the game on the line or runners on base. Her exploits did not go unnoticed by those in other regions of the state, which is why she was also named First Team All-Ohio for the 2014 campaign.
