GIRLS SOCCER

Archbold 2 Wauseon 0

WAUSEON – Blaney Huffman put Archbold on the board first with a goal, assisted by Jenae Kinsman, as Archbold started NWOAL play with a 2-0 win at Wauseon.

Lydia Frey added an unassisted goal for Archbold at the 4:45 mark of the second half.

LIBERTY CENTER –Three Lady Vikings had two goals each and Raegan Radel racked up three assists in a 6-1 win at Liberty Center.

Lydia Gleckler, Kara Huntzinger, and Brooklyn Camacho provided the scoring for Evergreen while Camacho also recorded an assist.

DELTA – Adrianna Dunning had a first half hat trick and Grace Munger scored twice in a 7-1 win over Swanton.

Jess Finera accounted for the lone Swanton goal with a second half tally.

CONTINENTAL – Ava Zimmerman scored twice and Tabithah Taylor had two assists to help Bryan even their record at 2-2 after a 3-0 win at Continental.

BRYAN – Continental scored on a penalty kick for a 1-0 halftime lead but a goal from Anthony Tomaszewski tied things at 1-1 in the second half as the non-league matchup would end in a tie.

The Golden Bears generated six shots on goal in the match and Dom Malanga had four saves in goal.

MONTPELIER – Hilltop’s Elena VanArsdalen dished out 13 assists and Libbie Baker racked up 13 kills in a three-set win over Montpelier.

Kelsie Bumb had 15 digs, 26 assists and Lyla Mahan tallied 22 digs to lead the Locos effort.

FAYETTE – North Central earned the first win for new head coach Katlyn Walker after dispatching Fayette in three sets.

Cailyn Meyers fronted the attack for North Central with 13 digs, nine kills, 13 assists while Anna Burt added eight digs and 13 assists.

Kelsie Storrs had 14 digs for the purple and gold Eagles with Zoie Brown and Hannah Towns-Hall add five kills each.

HICKSVILLE – The Blackbirds rallied from a 2-0 hole to force a fifth set but it was the Aces pulling out a 15-13 win in the fifth and handed Pettisville their second straight loss.

Naomi Richer topped the Pettisville stat sheet with 22 kills, 20 digs and Grace Hastings added 22 assists.

ARCHBOLD – The Bluestreaks forced a fifth and deciding set by winning the fourth, but Delta responded by taking the fifth to surprise Archbold in the league opener.

Keely Culler paced the Archbold effort with 18 kills, 25 digs and Meg Ames recorded 44 assists and 12 digs.

SWANTON – The Bulldogs pulled out narrow wins in the first two sets and then took the final set 25-20 to complete the sweep to start league action.

Alexa Faber delivered 15 kills for Swanton and Samantha Nelson registered 39 assists.

WAUSEON – Wauseon bounced back from the previous night’s loss to Elmwood to take care of Bryan in straight sets to start the NWOAL season.

Ella Vansteenkiste paced Bryan with 11 kills and Kenzie Wirth added 13 assists in the loss.

WAUSEON – Jack Leppelmeier shot a 39 and Gavin Knierim scored a 41 to lead the Blackbirds past Fayette in BBC play. Wyatt Mitchell posted Fayette’s low score with a 41.

DEFIANCE – Mykale Schneider, Carter Stuckey, and Zach Puehler were co-medalists by each firing a 41 for Wauseon in 166-191 win over Paulding. Nico Stahl carded a 43 to pace the Panthers.

TOLEDO – Grady Short posted a 34 to front Archbold and Cahle Roth added a 36 as Archbold finished first in a tri-match with Toledo Christian and Bryan.

The Golden Bears, who were one-stroke behind the host Eagles for second place, were topped in scoring by Kai Dauber with a 41 and Noah Huard shot a 45.
