(December 11th, 2014) – WEST UNITY: Playing host to their rivals from Pioneer, the Cadets took on the Eagles of North Central on Thursday night. Though the game remained competitive throughout the first three quarters, a great effort on both sides of the ball in the fourth period gave Hilltop a convincing win, 58-44.
The contest started out with both teams firing on all cylinders offensively. At the end of the first quarter, Hilltop held a slight advantage 17-15. They were able to build on that lead in the second quarter, carrying a 33-26 lead into the locker room at halftime. The third period saw the Eagles chip away at that deficit, down just 39-35 heading into the final stanza. Refusing to allow North Central to complete the comeback, however. Rediscovering their offense, they outscored the Eagle boys 19-9 in the quarter, securing a 58-44 victory.
A trio of freshmen helped Hilltop keep this game out of the Eagles’ reach. Kristian Grapengeter led all scorers with 16 points in the game. Meanwhile, Steven Riley added 15 points. Kohl Collins put up 11 points in the win as well.
Nick Henry produced 13 points for North Central in the loss. Teammates Josh Roesener and Kaleb Faler each provided 7 points to the Eagle total.
