Hilltop Loses At Home To Pettisville

(September 23rd, 2014)-WEST UNITY: The hometown Cadets got off the a strong start, but they couldn’t keep it up against the visiting Lady Blackbirds of Pettisville.

Game 1 of the BBC contest was very heated, and both sides left it all on the court. The girls of Pettisville had just enough to get past the surging Cadets, however, taking the set 27-25. Hilltop never quite recovered from the emotional loss, dropping the next two sets 9-25 and 10-25, respectively.

Dana Fricke had a big night for the Blackbirds with 13 kills, 6 blocks, 3 digs, and 3 aces. Also for Pettisville, Jordyn Pursel made 14 kills and 8 digs. Kate Kauffman added 17 assists and a kill in the victory.

Hilltop’s Cierra Grant owned the net for the evening, making 4 blocks to go along with her 5 digs and 2 kills. Ariana Brown led the team in kills with 3, also making a dig. Teammate Felicity Jackson had 4 assists, 4 digs, 2 kills, 2 blocks as well.
