Amidst the long fields and county roads lies the close-knit community of Edgerton. There a team of steadfast and dedicated firefighters stand ready to protect and serve.

Their unwavering commitment to keeping their town safe is truly commendable, and their hard work and selfless dedication deserve to be recognized and celebrated.

As the town’s call volume remains consistent with recent averages, the team has displayed admirable consistency in their service delivery. This consistency is evident in their call volumes for the past year. 2023 saw the year closed out with 120 runs.

This year shows the department is on track to handle between 100-110 calls. Their preparedness and commitment for these calls are truly exemplary.

Reflecting on the past year, the firefighters encountered an array of incidents, from winter emergencies involving ice, wind, and trees on power lines, to responding to crashes and providing lift assistance with EMS.

Their ability to adapt to these varying circumstances is a testament to their dedication and training.

Despite the challenges they face, the team remains focused on enhancing public safety. They recognize the need for increased safety awareness in the community, believing that many incidents could be prevented through heightened safety measures.

Additionally, the shortage of well-trained and available firefighters is a pressing issue not just in Edgerton but across the nation.

To help with this, the department has initiated a Junior Firefighter program, nurturing the next generation of heroes.

With six participants actively engaged in training and community activities, the program serves as a beacon of hope for the future, ensuring that the legacy of service and dedication will continue for years to come.

In Edgerton, the impact firefighters have extends beyond emergency response, as they actively engage with the community through fundraisers, scholarship initiatives, and proactive safety programs.

From organizing breakfast fundraisers that attract overwhelming community support to collaborating with the Red Cross to install over a thousand smoke and CO2 alarms, their efforts have not only saved lives but also fostered goodwill and unity within the community.

In the midst of their invaluable service, the firefighters are also facing their own challenges, including the pressing need to replace the Fire Station and update their fleet of trucks.

However, their optimism and conviction, bolstered by the unwavering support of the citizens of Edgerton and the fire district, provide them with the necessary strength to overcome these obstacles.

As we celebrate the firefighters of Edgerton, let us express our deepest gratitude for their service, and pledge our unwavering support as they continue to protect and inspire our community. Their selfless sacrifices and extraordinary bravery deserve nothing less than our utmost admiration and respect.
