James L. Norris, age 78, of Delta, passed away under hospice care at home surrounded by his loving family on December 13, 2024.
He was born in Wauseon, Ohio to the late Laurence and Dorothy (Fike) Norris on April 11, 1946.
After graduating from Fulton High School in AI, he married Julie Boyers on August 12, 1972 and together they would spend 52 loving years until his passing.
Jim worked in the auto industry as a controller with various dealerships, including Dave White, Jim White, Quality Ford, Taylor, Vin Devers and Grogan’s Towne. He was a member of Lytton Zion United Church of Christ in Delta.
Jim followed many different sports, cheering on his OSU Buckeyes, camping in Michigan and visiting auctions. He enjoyed traveling to Amish areas in Ohio and surrounding states as well as long distance travel.
His true passion was farming; growing hay, straw and wheat. He and his family also raised livestock that included goats, cows and chickens. Jim also raised horses for showing, harness racing and 4H when his children were younger.
Left to honor Jim’s memory are his wife, Julie; children, Jodie (Chaun) Steiner, Jill (Simon) Gundy; grandchildren, Austin (Caitlin) Gundy, Braeden Steiner, Bronson Steiner, Samantha Gundy, Zachary Gundy; great granddaughter, Evelynn Gundy; brother, John (Susie) Norris and sister, Joan Netzly.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta. A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Lytton United Church of Christ, 12910 Co Rd 5, Delta, Ohio 43515. Pastor Ned Newlin will be officiating. Interment will be at Dutch Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
