Jeanette J. Cox (1922-2013)

Jeanette J. Cox, 90, of S. Fayette St., Fayette, died Saturday morning, May 11, 2013, at Mercy Hospital of Defiance. She was born August 2, 1922, in Lenawee County, MI, to the Late Lenneth S. and Ruth (Keller) Schoonover. She married Denver Glen Cox on July 7, 1945, in Edon, OH, and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1990.

Jeanette was a 1941 graduate of Morenci High School. She was a member of the Fayette Christian Church-Disciples and served as a Sunday School teacher at the former United Brethren Church in Fayette. She enjoyed bowling, reading, playing cards, and was an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan.
Surviving Jeanette are her two sons, Allen Cox of Fayette, and Stan (Mary) Cox of Defiance; six grandchildren, Heather, Hope, Hillary, Noah, Josh, and Zach; and six great-grandchildren, Brendan, Chloe, Xzavier, Alyias, Olivia, and Graysen.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Cox; three sisters, Garnet Keller, Betty Marzolf, and Helen Kohler; and her brother, Arthur Schoonover.

A funeral service for Jeanette Cox will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette with Rev. Gene Sugg officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday evening, from 5-8 p.m.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorial donations in honor of Jeanette to the Gorham Fayette Fire Department.
