Joshua Scalf (1986-2019)

Joshua J. Scalf, 32 years, of Bryan passed away Monday, November 11, 2019 in his residence after a battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Josh was born December 9, 1986 the son of Terry and Melissa (Hurst) Scalf.

He graduated from Bryan High School. Josh had a passion for life and cherished spending time with his family and nurses. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, reading, and listening to music. Josh loved all animals especially his cats and dog. He always watched birds outside his window.

Surviving are his parents, Terry (Dawn) Scalf of Bryan, Ohio; mother, Melissa (Hubert) Williams of Montpelier, Ohio; sister, Jamie Scalf of Montpelier, Ohio; three brothers, Andrew Scalf of Barberton, Ohio, Ryan (Renee) Kinzer of Pioneer, Ohio and Travis (Harley) Kinzer of Bryan, Ohio; five nephews and six nieces. Josh was preceded in death by his brother, Jason Scalf; paternal grandparents, Jack and Anna Scalf; maternal grandmother, Mona Ewalt; maternal-grandfathers, James Hurst and Anthony Paxton.

The family of Joshua Scalf would like to thank Interim Home Health Care and Hospice for the care they provided Josh. A special thank you to the caring nurses: Bobie Kepler, Tim Hahn, and Joanne Rodriguez who where there to care for Josh and help support him and the family.


Visitation for Joshua J. Scalf will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 15, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Herb Ruggles officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.

The family asks those remembering Josh to make memorial contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1027 West Rudisill Blvd, Box 12, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46807.
