September 4th: Both the Seventh and Eighth Grade Locomotives Volleyball Teams came away with wins in straight sets against Liberty Center on Thursday.
In the Seventh Grade match, game 1 saw the Lady Locos take the set 25-14. The second set played out similar to the first, with Montpelier winning the game 25-17. Kennedy Caudill led the way for the Locomotives with 14 points off the serve. Arie Merillat and Tony Steffes each added 7 points off the serve.
For the Eighth Graders, the match was a tale of two sets. In game 1, the Lady Locomotives dominated the set with a 25-6 win. Liberty Center came back strong in game 2, though. Montpelier was able to handle the late rally, however, and escaped with a 25-20 victory.
Hannah Bumb was the leading scorer off the serve for Montpelier, contributing 11 points to the victory. Alizya House made 6 points off the serve as well.
