Kathryn “Katie” Saul (1927-2019)

Kathryn (Katie) Marguerite Saul, age 91, formerly of Findlay, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, in Bryan, Ohio. She was born on Aug. 21, 1927, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Maurice C. and Garnet G. (Huston) Barrell. Katie graduated from Findlay High School in 1945.

She married Gwen R. Saul on July 3, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2012. Kathryn retired as an account clerk at Marathon Oil Company after a long and satisfying career. She was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Findlay where she served at many volunteer opportunities. After retirement, Katie and Gwen traveled and visited all 50 states. They enjoyed their motor home, camping and hiking in many state and national parks throughout the USA. She enjoyed whistling, singing and playing games with family and friends.

Katie is survived by sons, Gary R. (Sharon) Saul of Vineyard, Utah, Dennis A. (Joanne) Saul of Gig Harbor, Washington, and Douglas D. (Kathy) Saul of Bryan, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Ralph (Judy) Barrell of Westville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by brothers, Jim and Jack Barrell, and sisters, Carolyn Wilhoite and Evelyn Hosler.

A visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at Colden-Crates Funeral Home, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m., following the visitation, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Metzger to officiate. Kathryn will be laid to rest beside her husband and love of her life in a private gravesite service at Knollcrest Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzeimers Association, 1800 N. Blanchard St., Findlay; Hillside Country Living, 9876 County Road 16, Bryan OH 42506; St. Marks United Methodist Church, 800 S. Main St., Findlay; or Black Swamp Area Council, BSA, 2100 Broad Ave, Findlay.
