PETTISVILLE- A high powered Blackbird offense proved to be too much for the lady Bombers of Edon to handle as they were defeated Friday night by Pettisville 58-35.

The first quarter of play was a tightly contested one, as both teams would trade the lead. The Bombers only trailed by one point, 15-14, at the end of the opening quarter of the contest. However, the second quarter would see an offensive explosion by Pettisville, as the Blackbirds would outscore the Bombers in the quarter 20-3, and Edon would trail 35-17 at halftime after only being down a point after the first quarter.

The second half would not see a change in the lead. Edon’s deficit grew to 23 points by the end of the third, as they trailed 52-29.

The Blackbirds slowed the game down in the final quarter of the night, as both teams would only put six points on the board each, wrapping up the contest with a final score of 59-35.

Although both teams shot 43 percent from the field in the game, Edon’s 26 turnovers allowed Pettisville to take 24 more shots than did the Bombers, which allowed the Blackbird lead to grow.

Leading the way offensively for the Bombers was Kaitlin Chrisman who had 15 points, followed by Kaitlyn Manahan and Jordan Matthews with six each, Baylee Gearhart with three, Kaitlyn Sonneberger and Hahhan Kaylor both scoring two, and Breanna Davis ended with one.
