Local Obituary: Linda Weidner (1942 – 2025)

Linda K. Weidner, 82, of Montpelier passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Parkview Bryan Hospital.

She was born on July 17, 1942 in Jackson, Michigan to Donald R. and Mildred M. (Kinnaman) Ferree.

Linda graduated from Bryan High School in 1960, then attended Jackson Community College. On April 8, 1967 she married Gene A. Weidner in Montpelier, and he survives.

Linda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Montpelier. In 2008, she retired from Community Health and Wellness Centers in Montpelier, where she was the secretary and aide in the Physical Therapy Department.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gene; daughters Christy (Philip) Mann and DiAnn (Jason) Smith; stepchildren Lisa (Mark Hoeffel) Gotshall, Scott Weidner and Michael Weidner; five grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, five great grandchildren with two on the way and 9 step great grandchildren; sister in-law Peggy Weidner.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and one step grandson, sister Sandra Schindler, two brothers- in-law Hal Weidner and Richard Schindler.

Visitation for Linda will be on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 5-7 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier. Services will be on Saturday at 11 am at First Presbyterian Church in Montpelier with Reverend Jan Desterhaft to officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer.

Memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church. Condolences can be left for the family at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
