NBC 24 (WNWO) will cease airing local newscast starting on May 15th. In a statement put out by WNWO, which is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting,
The National Desk will air during the regularly scheduled news time periods.
According to the release, “The National Desk offers an alternative choice for news and provides an opportunity for local news cut-ins, has grown exponentially over the last year, reaching nearly three million viewers per week across all dayparts.”
According to social media posts, the announcement was made to employees on Thursday, April 27th. The change may leave current Toledo employees out of a job.
There is no word on how many people this will affect, due to the fact that newscasts have been taking place in South Bend Indiana at a different Sinclair station for years, with the Toledo office operating with reduced staff.
