TOLEDO – Despite the opportunity to play on the beautiful turf at Mercy Field, the North Central Eagles were unable win the battle with the weather or the Swanton Bulldogs in the April 13th double header. Playing through temperatures in the low forties and intermittent sleet showers, the Eagles fell to the Dogs 8-4 and 6-3.

Game #1

The Eagles found themselves down five runs after two innings, and were held scoreless for the first four innings in the opener. North Central rebounded with three runs in the fifth inning, but were unable to get any closer falling 8-4.

Branden Turner hurled the first three innings and was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs (three earned), on four hits, fanned four, walked two and hit one batter. Ryan Bethel finished giving up three runs, four hits, struckout seven and issued six bases on balls.

Josh Sawyer and Colton Pilmore each singled twice for the Eagles with Sawyer driving in a run as well. Jalen Dancer tripled and plated a run, while Clayton Ferguson smacked an RBI single. Bethel and Kole Peterson also singled for North Central.

Game #2

As was the case in the first game, Swanton jumped out to an early lead, this time 6-0, after two innings. Much of the damage was due to four North Central errors. The Eagles were able to answer with three runs in the bottom of the second. However, that’s where the scoring ended.

Jalen Dancer went the distance on the mound for North Central surrendering four earned runs on eight hits, sent five down on strikes, and issued one free pass to first.

Dancer drove in two runs with a triple, and Ferguson doubled to plate Dancer. Taylor Radcliffe also doubled for the Eagles.

The Eagles stand at 3-5 on the season and 1-0 in the BBC.
