Monday, August 14 saw the first annual Flair on the Square make significant note of their success by accepting a grant from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC).

Being the first ever, Flair on the Square organizers had no clue if their event would qualify for grant funding, leading to the formulation of a successful fundraising campaign that brought citizens from all over the tri-state area together to enjoy music, community, and, of course, the arts.

While local artists did have to pay for, apply, and win their in the art show, it was reported that the over 3,000 strong crowd provided them with record profits, making this event more than beneficial to both the local artists and residents.

Most successful, perhaps, was the emerging artist’s display. This provided local, talented high school students with the opportunity to expose their work to the communities they love to live in and fostered the founding of many new local connections.

The Flair on the Square team’s main goal, which was “really to bring the arts into our community,” was definitely achieved, and the OAC agreed with grant funding in hand to help this event continue annually.
