FAYETTE, OH – Patricia Ann Morningstar, 81, of rural Fayette, departed this life on Friday, August 13, 2021, from the comfort of her home while under the care of Elara Caring Hospice. Born on Christmas Eve 1939, in Alvordton, OH, she was the daughter of Lester and Beulah (Stahl) Borton.

It was in Alvordton where Pat lived her formative years and attended grade school, before graduating from Hilltop High School in West Unity with the Class of 1958.

Later that same year, on June 21, she married the love of her life, Verl L. Morningstar in Fayette. They were blessed with over 58 wonderful years as husband and wife before his passing on February 9, 2017.

Pat was known to keep busy and was always gainfully employed. She worked for many years at the former Fayette Tubular Products before its closing; followed by a 9-year tenure at MIG (Palm) Plastics until its relocation out of state.

Most recently, she served for 14 years as a cook for 4-H Camp Palmer near her home by Harrison Lake. Additionally, for several years she helped her husband Verl raise turkeys and other livestock, farm, and operate a retail greenhouse on their property each spring.

Pat enjoyed gardening and baking, and was an avid reader of both fiction and nonfiction. She was also skilled in processing her homegrown grapes into delicious wine that she graciously shared in the company of her dear friends and family.

Welcoming Pat to Heaven were her parents; husband, Verl; and three brothers, Earl, Kenneth, and Otis O’Neil Borton.

She is survived by her three children, Paul Morningstar (and Pam Holley) of Fayette, Teresa Morningstar and Bryce Morningstar both of Winter Park, FL; a sister, Wynona Schilt of College Station, TX; a granddaughter, Felica Nofziger of Swanton, OH; and five great-grandchildren, Valerie, Carter, Lincoln, Kaylin, and Seger.

A private graveside service for Patricia will be held at the Lauber Hill Cemetery in German Township, Fulton County, Ohio. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.

Memorial contributions in Pat’s honor can be given to the American Bible Society. Online memories and condolences may be shared at www.WagleyFuneralHomes.com

To the family of Patricia — I am sadden to hear of her passing. Pat and Verl were great neighbors to my parents. No words can express how appreciative I have been of their kindness. I appreciated all they did for my parents as they aged. They helped my mother contact 911 when my father fell. After my father’s passing, I heard Verl would bring my mother eggs and just check on her. Pat had such a thoughtful heart. She kept me in her prayers all these years. Peace and and Blessing to the family — Mary Dreeze (Lopez)
