Pulaski Township trustees discussed a tree removal request on County Road C at their meeting on Tuesday, February 10.
Trustees in attendance were Tom Saul and Scott Noble while Terry Witte was absent. Regarding the tree removal request, Noble said a friend of his contacted him about it.
“I think we need to figure out whose tree this is to be honest with you,” said Noble. “It’s halfway into the field and halfway into the ditch.
“They wanted to put in a field driveway after I had talked to the person who had bought the house. We need to figure out whose tree it is,” Saul commented, noting that the location of the trunk of the tree is located behind the ditch.
“It’s a big tree and it hangs out over the ditch and the highway,” said Saul. “Yet the tree is on the resident’s property because the true property line of any property is of course the center line of the highway.”
He also pointed out that the township can’t be in the business of cutting everybody’s trees by the road.
Saul recommended that road supervisor Steven Hobeck measure the tree to determine if it meets township requirements.
With the recent snowstorm, Hobeck reported the salt supply for the township roads is holding up well with 75 to 100 tons of salt on hand.
“Probably at the end of the month or the first of March, I might get a hold of them to get the last truckload of salt for the township,” said Hobeck. “I think we have plenty to get through the year if we must.”
Hobeck also reported a road sign on County 17 needs to be replaced. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 24 at 6 p.m. in the township office.
