There will be a Roose / Beck Memorial Shoot on September 23, at the Defiance Fish and Game Club, located on 6872 Ohio Route 15, in Defiance.
Nocking Point, an archery store in Bryan, is sponsoring the event. Bows and all accessories will be supplied free of charge by Nocking Point.
The shoot is in memory of two Bryan residents, Kolbe Roose, age 24 and Remington Beck, age 23, who were both archery enthusiasts.
Beck was a bow tech for Nocking Point. Beck was a Shooting Staff member for Swordsights and placed in the R100 top 10 in 2021. Both men also loved to hunt and spend time outdoors.
Roose, a 2015 graduate of Fairview High School, passed away in a car accident on November 6, 2021 and Beck, a 2018 graduate of North Central High School, passed away from cancer on April 12, 2023.
“The boys may be gone, but their dreams are still coming true,” said Denae Roose, Kolbe’s mother.
“The importance of this day will be teaching kids how to use the outdoors as a stress reliever and learn to love what nature has to offer.”

“The two guys’ philosophy was live life, give life, try things you’ve never done and spend time making memories with family and friends.”
The day will start with a pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. and there will be food trucks available from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. along with other concessions available throughout the day.
There will be a 3D archery contest and raffle prizes. There will also be a blood drive put on by the American Red Cross.
Cost for the event is $10 and kids under 18 are free. If kids want to attend, but don’t have an adult, Nocking Point will match them with an adult.

The archery contest will start at 8 a.m. and the last one out is at 3 p.m.
If you would like to donate $25 for the purchase of 3D targets or to sponsor a child for the contest, as well as if you know of someone who could be matched up with an adult, contact Denae Roose at 419-630-6766.
